He became the 28th Idaho Secretary of State on January 2, 2023.
He began working in the Ada County elections office in 2005 as an election specialist, training poll workers during the punch-card voting era.
He clerked for the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, a federal agency, while attending law school.
He served as Ada County Clerk, the clerk for Idaho's largest county, from January 2019 until he took statewide office.
He holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Washington, a juris doctorate, and a Master of Public Administration, and spent a year with AmeriCorps building Habitat for Humanity homes in Alabama before returning to Idaho.
